xperia10

Sony Ericsson has been bleeding financially for quite some time now and recently rumors have been spreading about their Android initiative. That information has been confirmed by the company today as they have launched the XPERIA X10, the company’s very first Android device which is set to hit stores in the first half of 2010.

The phone sports a 1GHz Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm and features a 4 inch capacitate touch screen (meaning stylus will not work on this device). Other features include an 8.1 megapixel camera with LED flash and a UI skin for Android named Rachael.

Rachael is one of the most advanced UI skins we’ve seen for Android in a while and carries some multimedia enhancements that are on par with the iPhone. Speaking of multimedia, the XPERIA X10 has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, microUSB charger and an 8GB microSD card will be made part of the package. The battery is identical to the one found on the X2 (1,500mAh).

That said, the phone that went on display today is a pre-production model so some things could change between now and next year, but it should be said that Sony Ericsson is boasting some nice specs with this device.

Sales of the Nintendo Wii have been slumping over the past few months as consumers turn their eyes to the latest reincarnations of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. That however, hasn’t stopped Nintendo from adding some buzz to its console by offering a Black edition of the popular Wii.

If you remember, Nintendo released the black Wii in Japan a few months ago but stated it had no plans for a U.S release. However, we are seeing a U.K version of said device appear on Amazon’s UK site for £164.99.

According to Amazon UK, the suggested price of the black console is £179.99, but those who pre-order VIA the site can get it for £164.99 with an estimated ship date of November 6 2009. For those still interested in the white version, Amazon has the white console bundled with FIFA10 for £142.99.
