Sony Ericsson has been bleeding financially for quite some time now and recently rumors have been spreading about their Android initiative. That information has been confirmed by the company today as they have launched the XPERIA X10, the company’s very first Android device which is set to hit stores in the first half of 2010.
The phone sports a 1GHz Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm and features a 4 inch capacitate touch screen (meaning stylus will not work on this device). Other features include an 8.1 megapixel camera with LED flash and a UI skin for Android named Rachael.
Rachael is one of the most advanced UI skins we’ve seen for Android in a while and carries some multimedia enhancements that are on par with the iPhone. Speaking of multimedia, the XPERIA X10 has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, microUSB charger and an 8GB microSD card will be made part of the package. The battery is identical to the one found on the X2 (1,500mAh).
That said, the phone that went on display today is a pre-production model so some things could change between now and next year, but it should be said that Sony Ericsson is boasting some nice specs with this device.
